HANDCRAFTED IN SOUTH AFRICA
Dog Mom ramps are handcrafted in South Africa for safer access to cars, SUVs, bakkies, beds and couches. Each design combines a sturdy build, a high-traction rubber surface and a carefully considered incline for dogs of all sizes.
This is Emmy. She has had two cruciate surgeries, wears a brace on her front right paw, and lives with arthritis. I wish I had understood the effect of all that repeated jumping much earlier.
Every jump down from the car, couch or bed sent repeated impact through her front legs, joints and spine. Over and over again.
The first ramp I built was for her. Not to sell. Just so she did not have to jump anymore. Other dog parents began noticing Emmy’s ramp and asking if I could build one for their dogs too. Since then, I have built more than 100 ramps, each designed to help another much-loved dog move more safely and comfortably.
Every Dog Mom ramp is individually built and carefully finished for strength, stability and everyday use.
Not carpet. Not thin sandpaper. Proper rubber tread that gives paws real grip; especially important when coming down, when the concussive impact is highest.
The hinges and fixtures are custom-built steel, powder-coated for durability. Nothing wobbly. Nothing that shifts under a heavy dog.
A longer ramp means a gentler angle. A gentler angle means less strain on your dog’s joints on every single use. Dog Mom ramps are deliberately built long.
Most ramps aren’t designed for large breeds. Dog Mom ramps carry dogs up to 100kg on select models. If you have a Boerboel, a Ridgeback, or a German Shepherd, this is made for them.
A gentler incline helps your dog move up and down in a more controlled way, with less landing impact than jumping.
As a Veterinary Rehabilitation Practitioner, I highly recommend these ramps for any pet with orthopedic or spinal issues. The durable design, combined with excellent traction from the rubber surface, ensures my dogs can move up and down safely without slipping.

Dog Mom is definitely my first call when it comes to recommendations for my clients. Sandra’s attention to detail and understanding of the value of a strong and low gradient ramp makes her ramps superior in the market. Your pet deserves perfect quality and Dog Mom is undoubtedly able to deliver.

Choose where your dog needs safer access. If you are comparing vehicle ramps, measure your bumper height first and use the calculator to find the gentlest practical incline.
For medium dogs and hatchbacks. Compact fold, sturdy handles and high-traction rubber grip.
For SUVs and bakkies. Built longer than standard ramps for a gentler, safer angle.
Extra long and sturdy for Boerboels, Great Danes and other very large dogs. Rated up to 100kg.
Five adjustable height settings up to 75cm to fit your bed properly, because the angle matters as much as the ramp itself.
For everyday couch access, with three height settings for couches approximately 35 to 45 cm high.
Measure the height of your bumper, bed or couch and use the Dog Mom Ramp Angle Calculator to compare the incline before you choose. A longer ramp creates a gentler angle, which can be especially important for senior dogs, larger dogs and dogs with mobility concerns.
Start by measuring the height from the ground to the point where the ramp will rest on your vehicle. Then use the Dog Mom Ramp Angle Calculator to compare the incline created by each ramp length. The Folding Dog Car Ramp suits many lower vehicles, while the longer XL Folding Dog Ramp and Giant Breed Folding Dog Ramps can create a gentler incline for higher SUVs and bakkies. Your dog’s size, mobility and confidence on an incline should also guide your choice.
No. A ramp can be useful long before a dog shows signs of discomfort. Repeated jumping down from cars, beds and couches creates impact through the front legs, joints and spine. Introducing a ramp while your dog is young and confident can reduce that repeated impact and make the ramp familiar. If your dog has an injury or medical condition, ask your veterinarian or veterinary physiotherapist what incline and activity level are appropriate.
The high-traction rubber surface gives paws a more confident grip when walking up and down. It is soft on paws, does not trap as much hair and dirt as carpet, and is easy to wipe clean after muddy outings.
A ramp that is too short for the height it needs to reach can become steep and difficult to use. A longer ramp creates a gentler incline, helping your dog move in a more controlled way. The most suitable angle depends on your dog’s size, age, confidence and mobility. Check your setup with the Ramp Angle Calculator.
Some dogs walk straight onto a ramp, while others need time. Begin with the ramp flat on the ground. Use treats, praise and short sessions to encourage your dog to walk across it without pressure. Increase the incline gradually only once your dog is relaxed. Never pull or force your dog onto the ramp. Check out our Ramp Training Guide for tips and tricks.
A ramp provides one continuous incline and can reduce the repeated stepping and landing impact created by steps. This can make a ramp a better choice for senior dogs, puppies, larger dogs, dogs with short legs, and dogs with joint or spinal concerns. Read the dog ramps versus dog steps guide.
Measure the height of the furniture first. The Adjustable Couch Ramp has three settings for couches approximately 35 to 45 cm high. The Adjustable Bed Ramp is longer and has five settings for beds approximately 45 to 75 cm high. Always choose the lowest comfortable incline that works in your available space.
Yes. The XL Folding Dog Ramp is tested up to 70 kg, the Adjustable Bed Ramp up to 75 kg, and the Giant Breed Folding Dog Ramp up to 100 kg. Always check the individual product specifications and choose a ramp that suits both your dog and the height it needs to reach.
No. A ramp can provide a more controlled alternative to jumping, but your veterinarian or veterinary physiotherapist should guide your dog’s recovery, activity and appropriate incline. The Ramp Angle Calculator provides general guidance and does not replace professional advice.
Choose a handcrafted ramp for your car, couch or bed, or check the incline first if you are unsure. The right ramp gives your dog a more controlled way to move up and down every day.
